I realized I posted a lot of things elsewhere (like twitpic), but not on here! Silly me. Here are some things I’ve posted in the past that for one reason or another never made it here.

Nothing much, just sketches, the last one was for a project I had to do for my book illustration class on some of the more successful movies of the year. Just going on word of mouth since I only really saw Harry Potter this year, and Star Trek, which was the cover feature.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Willow

So, here we have the main protagonist of my current unnamed comic. She’s a upperclassmen at her high school, wears frumpy sweaters and has the occasional pimple or two.  She’s actually my first blonde protagonist, usually I stick with brown hair or redheads. This is a pretty big project, nothing huge, but it will probably span to be 100-135 page Graphic novel. It’s probably geared more towards females, but who knows. I am going to attempt to pitch this, so I’m in the process of getting it together, which is why things are going slowly with other projects.

Anyway, this is just a little preview of things to come, thanks!

cantsleep

My dreams have been few and far between, this has been one of the reasons: I haven’t been sleeping super well.  Just lots of stuff on my mind, basically a lot of school stuff as my college career is quickly coming to a close. Next semester I will be student teaching which will basically be me paying my school to work a forty hour week! Crazy, but I’m excited/nervous. I want to try to keep a daily journal comic about it along side with the written notes I need to take about my experiences. Should be fun.

Anyway, yeah, so I haven’t had any good dreams! Wish for me to have good dreams to draw about! I haven’t had any crazy ones for a long while.

It’s getting late, I should probably try to sleep.  I’ve posted this comic before but not on here. Just that fact makes me feel incredibly lazy!!  Night, folks.

I went to the city with my mom, my sister, her boyfriend and my boyfriend, for my mom’s birthday.  Our first stop off the path was ground zero, which I actually have never seen. Soon after we made our way to Strawberry Fields and the Dakota building. It was absolutely heart wrenching, there were people all around putting down flowers and taking pictures, not to mention singing. The man in the comic was explaining to his wife who John Lennon was and he started singing.  The whole moment was really quite surreal and I just kept snapping pictures. Unfortunately I don’t have the cord for my camera so those pictures will be on my camera for a while.

It was beautiful.  When we left we had to go to the subway entrance which was right by the Dakota building where John lived and was killed. I had to extend my hand and touch the building as we went down. Damn, that man did such great things, I can only imagine what more he could have done if his life wasn’t ripped away.

Realizations

Just finished reading Lucy Knisley’s French Milk, much anticipated after I read Radiator Days.  If you haven’t picked up her work I highly suggest you do, lest I smack you around a little.

So anyway, yeah, we’re pretty much the same age, and while I’m reading it I can’t help but think “Oh my god, I’ve never even been out of the country, let alone the east coast.”  Pauly was playing his Xbox, partaking in a game of UNO, as you can see. This book made me want to pack up my bags right away and go to Paris to eat some yummy food, go the Louvre, eat some yummy food. Oh? I already mentioned that? Whoops.

Anyway, awesome book, definitely made me want to draw. I adore my brush pen, so portable and easy and leaves such juicy lines.

Being struck by lightning must feel a little bit like  that. I’ve been faintly electrocuted before, and it was not a great feeling. I really don’t remember much more about the dream other than being stuck by lightning. If you haven’t read the Percy Jackson series, I suggest you get on it if you are looking for a nice, quick read. Great characters, great story and lots of little twists and turns. I never thought I knew so much about mythology until I read these books. So I’m sure the lightning came from all the Zeus references, or maybe a part of “Chiggers” that  just got stuck in my head.

Anyway, it was pretty vivid dream, even though I don’t remember much, which kind of stinks since I haven’t really been having dreams as often as I’d like, at least ones I can remember.

I started school so everything has been a bit topsy-turvy for the past week or so, hopefully I’ll get back on my feet soon.

As you may have known, I’ve been working diligently on my web-comic Positively Fourth Street. So far I have a bunch of pages drawn, but I’m not sure how to present them?  I was toning them but I wasn’t quite sure I liked it. So I tried coloring it, still not sure, that’s why I come to you.  Which do you prefer?

Tone: chapteronepageone

Or  Color:

The color was quick and a bit messy but it is something different. I still enjoy doing tone, and it’s mostly easy to work with. Any ideas? Thanks, folks.

Listening to: Golden Girls theme song? Yes, feel free to belittle me.

taratrueblood

…but I have some sympathy for Tara from True Blood, she always seems to get ragged on, but from what I’ve seen so far (and I haven’t caught up yet) she doesn’t seem so bad. I like Sookie too, I’ll have to try drawing her at some point too, her adorable gap teeth call out to me. I think most of the characters in the show are pretty believable as people and not just characters.  You can blame Paul for getting me into this show, I was super skeptical at first cause everyone who watched it also liked Twilight.  That was a big NO NO for me.  Anyway, so far, I’m really liking the show, I hope it stays that way.

Listening to: All the Young Dudes- David Bowie

I haven’t, despite being a big fan of the series, done any fan art for Scott Pilgrim.  I get the “your style kind of reminds me of Scott Pilgrim” so I figured I should try drawing one of my favorite characters.  Kim is definitely in that spot, I guess I can kind of relate, I used to be the girl who was always friends with the guys but never going out with the guys.  So yeah, to the art.

solemnkim

So yeah, if you read the most recent book, this is from the end. I can’t help but feel it wasn’t an easy bus ride. That’s all I will say, just in case you haven’t read it.  I’ll upload this to twitpic but at the moment, it doesn’t seem to be working.

But yes, Kim.  I hope the books end well for her. We shall see.

Thanks for lookin’.

teethdream

They say dreams about teeth are the most common? I don’t know but I’ve had my share of them.  Most of them consist of me still having braces or pulling out my teeth strung in a line.  Oddly enough, the last dream dealing with the vampire business, I wasn’t sucking any blood, most of it was coming out of my mouth.  I think it’s more of a reference to when I was young and I had two teeth that were being pushed upward because I had too many teeth in my mouth, so them being so prominent, I looked like a vampire. It made dressing up for halloween a snap.

Who else has had dreams about teeth? Maybe they aren’t as common as they say.

Also, anyone who knows what the name of this post is from gets an A+ in my book.

I haven’t been updating as often as I would like, but unfortunately I haven’t really had any dreams to record, or ones that I can at least remember, so that’s why it’s been a little slow around here.  Also, I’m working on a full length comic, which you will be hearing about sooner than later. Thanks for droppin’ by.
