Last night my whole house was shaking due to the wind and rain. Since it’s such an old building the slightest draft will cause the windows to creak, and since last night was like a monsoon you can only imagine the noise that went on.

It was loud enough to wake me up after a crazy dream. I seem to have a lot of dreams about tornadoes, and I’m not really sure why…time to get a dream dictionary, I guess. So, yeah, the fourth panel, sorry, it looks a little naughty but it’s not supposed to–what other way can you have two people crammed into a bathtub?! We are clothed, too, so get your mind out of the gutter, though I will admit mine was there first.

–Can you tell I had a bit too much fun with sound effects??

Anyhoo, the reason I have been terrible at updating this thing is because I’m student teaching–I’m slightly surprised that I was able to actually do something productive today but I needed to draw and I need to draw more often because it’s a wonderful stress relief. A nice relief to the stress that teaching is very capable of. I only have about 5 weeks left at this placement and it’s kind of sad because I basically have only 5 classes more with these kids and they are all pretty great kids (most of them, heh heh heh). SO yeah, that has taken a big chunk out of my time but I’m OK with that since well, I need to graduate.

Also, wedding bells! Paul and I have set the date but we haven’t really made an OFFICIAL announcement. We will soon enough, yes we will. We have the church, the reception hall and the DJ. So slowly but surely things are starting to get done! We have pre cana on the 13th of February and I’m not really sure what to expect! Has anyone ever done it? Give us a heads up!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, enjoy the strip!

As most of you  may have noticed, Paul proposed! You can go witness it here.

Between the projects for school I managed a little comic myself in response to Pauly’s.

Of course I said YES!

It was such a wonderful surprise and it really turned a crappy day into an oh-so spectacular day! I couldn’t be happier and I swear I’ve been in my own little world over the past few days because of it. We made a LOT of phone calls that night–and then we went to Perkins for a late-night breakfast. (I could eat breakfast anytime.)

Weeee!

I’m done with school for the semester and now I have to get ready for student teaching as well as working on a small submission to an anthology ran by some comic friends.

Update: Whitney Matheson of Pop Candy posted an adorable little article about Paul and I. Go check it out!

Happy Holidays, everyone!!!

This piece was definitely subconsciously influenced by Craig Thompson.

A 5 X7  print of this was included in the commissions I mailed out recently. As I said via twitter, I’m offering $5 dollar commissions since I’m trying to get everyone something decent for christmas! More information on commissions is here if you are interested. Thanks!!!

In other news, Jersey had a bit of a snow storm last night, we got nearly 6 inches of snow! Not a lot, but enough for one day, at least. Here is Paul and I out and about in it before the inches started to pile on:

Dreaming about comics, eh?  I don’t know where to put that on the dream scale. Either way, if you don’t recognize the character Kipling from Francesca’s The Next Adventure, take a peek here. Anyway, this dream was completely silent, I have no idea what is going on, I just assume he’s saving me from making a really long rope? Thoughts? I’ve never been a good at dream interpretation.

I’ve been working a lot on my upcoming comic so my dream comics, and my dreams for that matter have dwindled, but they’ll be around, they’ve never really had a set update time anyways.

Thanks for lookin’ folks.

I find this is very true. If I have a crazy dream and I want to remember it I try my best to backtrack and go through the whole dream in my head that way I’ll be able to recall the little details. If I get up right away the dreams kind of trickle out of my head and they are gone (at least until some random event sparks my memory). Sometimes I have to get up right away, especially if I’m late, so a lot of dreams are lost in the process. I remembered a dream I had at least 10 years ago a few nights ago, not sure what triggered it but it was pretty bizarre.

So we have my advice to you all who have trouble remembering dreams is this: lay in bed for as long as you can recalling, but whatever you do, don’t sit up, it will all leak out.

I really felt this worked better without text. All I remember about this dream was running on a narrow ramp with someone in a creaky old wheelchair following me. Supposedly this hallway was haunted and this person, whoever they were, was mad at me for trespassing. There was people in front of me, and I guess they made a leap of faith also, but unfortunately the hallway ended and I had no other choice but to jump, so I did.  Then I woke up. Very weird, as usual, some of my dreams have been so strange and disturbing I couldn’t draw them. I added the high contrast last minute–for fun?

I like them both, I guess. I’m out of practice with my dream comics! Whoops. The high contrast was mainly due to the lack of nice art in the last two panels. I leap like a crazy person, I suppose.

I realized I posted a lot of things elsewhere (like twitpic), but not on here! Silly me. Here are some things I’ve posted in the past that for one reason or another never made it here.

Nothing much, just sketches, the last one was for a project I had to do for my book illustration class on some of the more successful movies of the year. Just going on word of mouth since I only really saw Harry Potter this year, and Star Trek, which was the cover feature.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Willow

So, here we have the main protagonist of my current unnamed comic. She’s a upperclassmen at her high school, wears frumpy sweaters and has the occasional pimple or two.  She’s actually my first blonde protagonist, usually I stick with brown hair or redheads. This is a pretty big project, nothing huge, but it will probably span to be 100-135 page Graphic novel. It’s probably geared more towards females, but who knows. I am going to attempt to pitch this, so I’m in the process of getting it together, which is why things are going slowly with other projects.

Anyway, this is just a little preview of things to come, thanks!

cantsleep

My dreams have been few and far between, this has been one of the reasons: I haven’t been sleeping super well.  Just lots of stuff on my mind, basically a lot of school stuff as my college career is quickly coming to a close. Next semester I will be student teaching which will basically be me paying my school to work a forty hour week! Crazy, but I’m excited/nervous. I want to try to keep a daily journal comic about it along side with the written notes I need to take about my experiences. Should be fun.

Anyway, yeah, so I haven’t had any good dreams! Wish for me to have good dreams to draw about! I haven’t had any crazy ones for a long while.

It’s getting late, I should probably try to sleep.  I’ve posted this comic before but not on here. Just that fact makes me feel incredibly lazy!!  Night, folks.

I went to the city with my mom, my sister, her boyfriend and my boyfriend, for my mom’s birthday.  Our first stop off the path was ground zero, which I actually have never seen. Soon after we made our way to Strawberry Fields and the Dakota building. It was absolutely heart wrenching, there were people all around putting down flowers and taking pictures, not to mention singing. The man in the comic was explaining to his wife who John Lennon was and he started singing.  The whole moment was really quite surreal and I just kept snapping pictures. Unfortunately I don’t have the cord for my camera so those pictures will be on my camera for a while.

It was beautiful.  When we left we had to go to the subway entrance which was right by the Dakota building where John lived and was killed. I had to extend my hand and touch the building as we went down. Damn, that man did such great things, I can only imagine what more he could have done if his life wasn’t ripped away.

  • My college is CLOSED, but well, not the school I'm teaching at. I'm going to bed, I feel like tomorrow is going to be a LONG day. 53 minutes ago
  • I'm also pissed because as I TRY to watch LOST the listings for closings are flashing across the screen. There's no SNOW ON THE GROUND! 1 hour ago
  • The snow keeps getting pushed back by the hour. I feel like this big snow storm will be a big nothing. 1 hour ago
  • Hmm, the likelihood of a snow day is diminishing by the hour. Maybe it won't be a comics day after all... 3 hours ago
  • So, I'm going to MoCCA this year, and I want to make little booklets to pass out. What should I put IN them? Hmmm. 4 hours ago
